Signs of Spring and Summer

I saw a positive sign this week that summer is coming soon! At first I thought I was hearing things, but then I realized the sound coming from the lake was actually a boat motor. I looked out at the water and saw a fishing boat on Lake Michigan. I don’t care what the forecast is for the rest of this week—I’m holding on to my theory that summer will be here before we know it!

Of course, we can’t forget about spring, especially since there is evidence of it everywhere. The robins are out, the college kids are returning from their spring break, and the younger students are getting ready to take off on their break as well. And, nothing says spring better than March Madness for college basketball. I am happy I decided not to fill out a bracket this year, because I always pick my beloved Michigan teams to go deep in the tournament. Not this year! Let’s hope Michigan hockey can go far in the NCAA tournament this season. Go Blue!

Now that the high school hockey season has ended for our family, we are able to concentrate on new and exciting things. The big topic in our house right now is the Blueberry Haven t-shirt design for this summer. We are always actively working on creative items to add to our collection at the store in the spring, and the t-shirt is one item my family especially likes to weigh in on.

I personally like to change the design of the shirt from year to year. The v-neck sandpiper t-shirt and the spirit long-sleeved shirt were the best sellers over the years, and, surprisingly, they were also the most expensive! And, the “Hot Guys Eat Blueberries” shirt is still the most requested from all of our customers. Here are the suggestions from my family:

  • My husband wants the every day t-shirt that you pick up when you’re on vacation. He also requests that it’s not too tight!
  • One of my sons thinks I should develop a classic design that never goes out of style and maybe change up the design on the front each year.
  • Another son saw a sweatshirt at a novelty store that he thinks we should replicate because it’s “really cool,” and he’s sure everyone would want to wear it.

I would love to hear about your favorite design—old or new. Either stop in the store or send me an email to let me know if you have a suggestion. Who knows what we will come up with for our final t-shirt design this year, but I’m sure it will be fun and creative. We often sell out of our shirts early in the summer, and we have had some disappointed customers when we tell them they are all gone for the season. So, make sure you come in early for the best selection of sizes and to make sure you get what you need for your entire family.

In the meantime, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that spring arrives soon and stays for a while. Happy spring!
