A Very Special Monday

Every once in a while, something—or someone—comes along and just makes your day. Monday was one of those days for me. I thought it was going to be another typical Monday in February, but it turned out to be a very special day indeed.

I should have known something big was about to happen when the sun was shining brightly and it almost felt like Spring! I probably shouldn’t say that word out loud because everyone in our Mitten state knows that Spring never arrives early in Michigan.

In addition to the beautiful, sunny day, my oldest son turned 21 at midnight on Superbowl Sunday. I have to admit I was a little nervous when I sent him a “Happy Birthday” text, because I was afraid there might be too much celebrating since his big day happened to fall on Superbowl Sunday. Of course, I did mention to him that he might not want to stay out too late on a school night! I’m happy to report that I received notification before noon on Monday that all was well and he was safe. Phew—dodged that bullet!

So, the sun was out, my son survived his 21st birthday celebration, and I was expecting our local potter to visit Blueberry Haven in the afternoon and share the new coffee mug she had been working on for us to sell in our store. When she arrived and showed me the finished product, I was so impressed. You will definitely want to come in to Blueberry Haven and purchase one of these locally-made mugs. Each one is handmade and just a little different from the others. They are such a big hit that I sold two before I had even put them on the shelves!

My Monday just continued to get even better after the potter dropped off the mugs. The mail arrived at the store, and when I looked through the pile, I opened the following letter:

Blueberry Haven:

Our son goes to school in Caledonia. He is 8 years old. Each student in the class had to pick a “Made in Michigan” product. What a perfect product your blueberries were! He also had to read his report to the class. It was awesome. Grand Haven Represents!

Campbells

I have to give a huge shout out to 8-year-old Douglas Campbell for choosing Blueberry Haven for his report, and I couldn’t agree more with his choice! I loved the report and thought it was so awesome that his family shared it with me. Now I’m sharing it with all of you, our Blueberry Haven followers. Here’s what Douglas had to say about our business and our products:

Do you like blueberries? I do. Do you like chocolate? If so, then I have something for you guys! I brought a delicious treat that has blueberries and chocolate.

My Michigan product is from Grand Haven. Grand Haven is located in the Lower Peninsula in West Michigan. Tiffany Balk, from Grand Haven, is the inventor of my product. My product’s business is more successful in the summer time. This is because blueberries grow and are fresh during the summer. Grand Haven is also a tourist town.

I think someone would be interested in my food product because it tastes so good and it will support a local business. I would recommend this product to others. This is because it tastes so good and it’s an easy snack.

My product is a tasty treat that many people will enjoy all year long. And last, I think this is a really good product because the inventor, Tiffany, picks most of the blueberries herself.

And, here’s what I have to say to Douglas:

Thank you, Douglas! Your report was terrific, and please let me know if you ever want to go out and pick some blueberries. I hope you got an “A” on your report. Also, thank you to your family for sharing something great with me at Blueberry Haven. It’s easy to call and make a complaint, but it is so nice when we get a heartwarming letter like yours!

If any of you know the Campbell family,  I hope you share my blog with them so they will know how special they made my Monday in February!
